Swedanam

Vamanam

The Vamana therapy is otherwise called Emesis therapy. Generally conducted for issues related to Kapha Doshas, this treatment successfully removes any toxins present in one’s respiratory or gastrointestinal tract. Higher levels of kapha can be the cause of multiple issues like Asthma, Diabetes, Chronic cold, Acne, Arthritis etc. in case of an exorbitant amount, it needs to be removed from the system. Expelling the excess often cures the illness. As kapha is generally present in the chest, so oral expulsion is the easiest route to go. For the therapy to be a success, kapha is terminated out of the body by inducing vomiting.

Virechanam

Virechana is targeted to expel increased Pitta Doshas out of the body. When pitta dosha gets increased, it causes certain type of diseases. If the extent of pitta increased is less, then oral medicines can be given to suppress it. But if it has increased to a large extent and if it has moved from its natural place to other places, then it needs to be expelled out of the body. By expelling it out, the disease gets cured often completely. Since pitta is situated at the level of intestines, expelling it from the anal route is very easy. Hence virechana is the best treatment for expelling it out. Virechana karma helps to cure various conditions in the gastrointestinal tract and cures skin problems like seborrheic dermatitis, blisters and discolored patches on the face, ulcers, gastritis, jaundice, infertility related issues, anemia, abdominal tumors etc.
