Shirodhara
Shirodhara is the continuous stream of warm oil on the forehead. The liquid used in Shirodhara depends on what is being treated, but it can include oil, milk, buttermilk etc. This practice helps to keep your mind away from stress, anxiety and insomnia.
There are different types of Shirodhara and are used for different purposes like Ksheer Dhara, Takra Dara, Thaila Dara, Jala Dara, and Kwath Dara. This process cools the mind and body and lets you feel the calmness of being in peace.
Pizhichil
Pizhichil is a unique Ayurveda therapy from Kerala. It is a type of fomentation. A special linen cloth is dipped into warm medicated oil mixture and squeezed over the disease affected areas of the patient. This treatment enhances the circulation of the bodily fluids and activates the lymphatic system to further aid the detoxification. This treatment is very useful for Rheumatic diseases like Arthritis, Paralysis, Hemiplegia, Sexual weakness, Nervous diseases etc.
Njavara kizhi
Njavarakizhi is a deeply refreshing and revitalizing massage that is practiced as rejuvenation therapy in order to alleviate the joint stiffness due to vata. The massage involves the fomentation that is triggering and perspiration of the complete body with the bolus of the cooked rice. Rice is cooked with milk and also added with different herbal products, which would add nutritional and therapeutic value for the treatment. The medicated herbal rice is boiled and wrapped in the hand sized cotton bags. So that the therapists can easily make the movement of the hands. It enhances physical consistency, strengthens the nervous system and improves overall appearance of the skin, it helps to treat Neurological disorders, Rheumatism, Arthritis and Malnutrition of limbs.
Tharpanam
Tharpanam is a rejuvenating ayurvedic treatment for our eyes for strengthening the optical nerves, prevent cataract and provide a cooling effect to the eyes, pouring warm and medicated ghee within an enclosure over the eyes.
