Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy is a specialized form of manual therapy in which digital pressure and friction are used to release areas of strain in the muscle. Strain areas are called trigger points, and they tend to be the main cause of muscular pain symptoms. These trigger points are small areas of the muscle in which there is a contracture of tissue, and thus the lack of blood and nutrients in that area causes an inability to relax that muscle properly. This causes the accumulation of toxins in that area which causes pain, fatigue and weakness in the muscle. Trigger points can lead to referral pain, tingling or numbness. The NMT techniques are highly specialized and are designed to ease pain and correct dysfunction of movement. The problems are normally caused by certain trauma, repetitive jobs, or even bad postures.

Some of the medical conditions for which neuromuscular therapy can be treated, include:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatica like symptoms
  • Tendonitis
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Head ache etc.

BENEFITS

  • Reduced or complete elimination of pain
  • Higher levels of flexibility and strength
  •  Ease of pain and efficiency of movement
  • Better posture
  • Balanced musculoskeletal and nervous systems
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Lower levels of body toxins etc.
